The Mill, a
Grade II* listed building, was built in 1869 and generated enough power to turn
four sets of mill stones. Find out how a windmill works, how corn is ground and
flour made using the power of wind or the Hornsby 14 hp gas-oil engine. See
what the miller's cottage would have looked like at the turn of the 19th
century.
To enable the workings of the Mill to be fully explained, visitors
are taken on a guided tour lasting about 45 minutes. Wheelchair users have
access to the ground floor area where there are many items of
interest.
Look around the mill's 19th century barn which houses unique examples
of Norman cycles and motorcycles which were made in Ashford. The Barn also
houses a Gift Shop and Mrs.Cobb's Kitchen where you can enjoy home-made cakes,
hot or cold drinks, light refreshments, ice cream, etc.
