Stocks Windmill

Kent's tallest post mill, dating from 1781, stands in the grounds of Stocks Mill House, once owned by the actor Norman Forbes Robertson, artist Randolph H. Sauter and Admiral Sir Edward Parry.

The machinery was moved out in the early 1900s and the windmill was given to Kent County Council in 1980. Renovation work was then carried out by KCC with funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund. Work included replacing some of the machinery with new stones.

There is a small display of artefacts and photos. A few souvenirs are also for sale.

Stocks Mill is one mile from Wittersham village on the B2082 to Rye. Free parking is allowed in the bus lay-by. Access to the ground floor only for the disabled. The mill is opened by the volunteers "The Friends of Stocks Mill"

Open: Easter Sunday and Monday, then from May to end September on Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays from 2.30pm- 5pm and for groups by appointment.

Admission: Adults £1.00, Children 50p
